NOMINEE #2: NEW PALESTINE'S MICHAEL THACKER
Nursing a 14-6 lead early in the third quarter, New Palestine defensive lineman Michael Thacker intercepted Mt. Vernon quarterback Mason Meyer and returned the pick for a touchdown to put a little distance between the Dragons and the Marauders. New Pal won 28-14 to stay perfect and advance to the next round of sectionals.
NOMINEE #2: CHATARD'S JACK HARRINGTON AND KALEN SARGENT
Bishop Chatard was clicking on on cylinders on the opening night of the state tournament. Trojans' quarterback Jack Harrington connects with Kalen Sargent for the 60-yard touchdown. The score was part of a big night for Chatard as the Trojans beat Attucks 42-0 to advance.
