INDIANAPOLIS - Brownsburg won the class 6A state championship, while New Palestine claimed the 4A title in the first day of the state football finals at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday.
The Bulldogs scored 12 points in 54 seconds at the beginning of the fourth quarter to break a 10-10 tie against Westfield. Drew Bostic sealed the game with an interception in the end zone. The 22-17 win is Brownsburg's first state football crown since winning back-to-back in 1984-85.
New Palestine dominated East Noble, 56-26 to finish undefeated (14-0) and win the school's fourth state football championship. The Dragons had 389 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. Josh Ranes had 166 yards and 4 TDs, while Caden Jacobia had 164 yards and 2 TDs.
Adams Central won the 2A title with a 46-6 win over Linton-Stockton in the first game of the day.
