INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana has officially been selected to the first-ever 12-team field of the College Football Playoff.
The Hoosiers are the No. 10 seed as an at-large pick and will play at-large No. 7 seed Notre Dame in the first round at Notre Dame Stadium on Friday, Dec. 20 at 8:00 p.m.
The winner will play No. 2 seed Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in the quarterfinals on New Year's Day.
The CFP berth caps off a remarkable turnaround for the Indiana football program under first-year head coach Curt Cignetti. The Hoosiers finished the regular season 11-1 for the first 11-win season in school history. They also won eight Big Ten games in a year for the first time ever.
The historic season earned Cignetti a contract extension worth $8 million annually through 2032 and Big Ten Coach of the Year honors. 18 players were named to the All-Big Ten teams, including three to the first team: linebacker Aiden Fisher, defensive lineman Mikail Kamara and defensive back D'Angelo Ponds.
Quarterback Kurtis Rourke was named to the All-Big Ten second team after leading the conference in touchdown passes with 27. He also led the nation in passing efficiency at 181.4.
Oregon, Boise State and Arizona State are the other top seeds and will receive first-round byes.
