INDIANAPOLIS - Tim Cindric will step away as the day-to-day leader of Team Penske's racing programs. He'll remain as the president of the organization's IndyCar entries and oversee the team's racing archives and historical assets.
Cindric joined the highly successful race team owned by Roger Penske in 1999. He's helped the team to 10 wins in the Indianapolis 500. Team Penske has a record 20 victories in the famed race.
“I have lived my dream job for the past 25 years as the overall leader of the Penske Racing organization," Cindric said in a team news release. "I've had the opportunity to work with some of the best people in the business while achieving many milestones together."
Cindric added he decided to reduce his role for more flexibility at this point of his career.
"I appreciate the understanding Roger has provided throughout our conversations and I'm confident this team will continue to succeed as we have a proven leadership team in all areas," said Cindric.
He graduated from Pike High School on Indianapolis' northwest side before earning a mechanical engineering degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Team Penske fields cars in the NTT IndyCar Series, NASCAR Cup Series, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Michael Nelson will continue as president of Team Penske's NASCAR effort and vice president of operations, while Jonathan Diuguid will remain as lead of the sportscar program. Ron Ruzewski will continue as managing director of the IndyCar team.
