INDIANAPOLIS – The Royal Rumble didn’t disappoint.

WWE said the premium event set multiple records for gate, viewership, merchandise sales and more.

Lucas Oil Stadium hosted the 2025 Royal Rumble, with 70,347 fans in attendance—an all-time record for the event and the third-largest attendance figure behind WrestleMania 40’s Saturday and Sunday sessions.

Those fans saw quite a show, with Charlotte Flair winning the women’s competition and Jey Uso emerging victorious in the men’s match. Both earned title shots at WrestleMania.

Other bouts included the Ladder Match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens (won by Rhodes) and the Tag Team Title between DIY and Motor City Machine (won by DIY).

WWE said the 2025 Royal Rumble set the event’s all-time viewership record, up 14% from last year. Peacock streamed it.

Saturday night’s showdown also set a gate record, generating the highest gate for a single-night event in WWE history. Merchandise sales were up 95% from last year, organizers said, making Royal Rumble the highest-grossing non-WrestleMania event ever.

Social media views also hit record numbers, with Bron Breakker’s takedown of IShowSpeed becoming the most-viewed Royal Rumble social media post of all-time. WWE said the clip generated more than 300 million social views in less than a day.

Royal Rumble was the first marquee WWE event to take place in Indianapolis under a new partnership between Indiana Sports Corp and WWE. The city will also host two other premium stadium events—SummerSlam and WrestleMania—in the future.

Indianapolis last hosted WrestleMania in 1992. That event was held at the Hoosier Dome.
