INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew has been named an alternate for the NFL Pro Bowl Games next week.
The NFL announced on Tuesday afternoon that Minshew has been added to the AFC roster of the Pro Bowl Games, which will be held on Feb. 4 in Orlando.
The addition comes after the Kansas City Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl, causing the team's Pro Bowlers to decline the invitation.
Now the Indy quarterback will join some of the league's best players for the event, along with several of his teammates.
The announcement comes just hours after Colts center Ryan Kelly and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner were added to the AFC roster as alternates as well. The moves bolster each player's resume.
While this is Kelly's fourth time and Buckner's third time attending the Pro Bowl, this is Minshew's first time being named to a roster. The three will join Quenton Nelson in Orlando after the Colts guard was named a starter in his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl.
Minshew began the 2023-24 season as a backup for the Colts before taking over the starting position for rookie QB Anthony Richardson, who was placed on IR after suffering a grade 3 sprain to the AC joint in his right (throwing) shoulder during a Week 5 win against the Titans.
