IMPD provides safety tips as NBA All-Star Weekend increases traffic in downtown Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD has provided numerous safety tips as both pedestrian and vehicle traffic have increased in downtown Indianapolis ahead of NBA All-Star Saturday Night.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, IMPD encouraged motorists to park further away from events and walk to their destinations. Police also urge drivers to avoid blocking intersections and be patient with others on the road.

IMPD is asking pedestrians to follow crosswalk signage and be on the lookout for vehicles.

According to previous reporting, more than 125,000 people were expected to flock to Indianapolis for NBA All-Star Weekend. A press release from the Indianapolis Airport Authority reported that more than 37,000 people are expected to fly out of the Circle City on Sunday and Monday.

NBA All-Star Saturday Night will begin at 8 p.m. This weekend's festivities will wrap up on Sunday at 8 p.m. with the NBA All-Star Game.
