For the first time in program history, the Lady Bears ended their season as state champions. Lawrence Central beat Lake Central 55-28 in the Class 4A final on Saturday night.

"It's difficult as a young adult to set out for a goal that you've never seen," head coach Jannon Lampley said. "I'm just proud. I can't say enough about them."

Lampley's two daughters, Jaylah and Lola, led the way for Lawrence Central with 19 points and 12 points, respectively.

"We all get to live out our dream, playing state and winning state," Jaylah Lampley said. "It's just so crazy."

The 2023-24 Lady Bears are only the third girls' basketball team in state history to have 30 wins in a season.

Gibson Southern (3A), Bishop Luers (2A), and Lanesville (1A) were the other girls' basketball state champions.
