The final play of Saturday's sectional championship game at Guerin Catholic was far from what the Golden Eagles originally drew up.

But an improbable basket propelled Bobby Allen's group to a double-overtime win over Brebeuf Jesuit.

"My first instinct was there's got to be like less than a second," senior guard Ben Grissom said. "So I was going to either shoot it or throw it at the rim hoping for a tip-in or something."

"I got the ball, and I turned, and there was nobody. It was me and the basket," junior guard Malcolm Houze said. "At that point, I just, I have to go up with it."

Guerin Catholic's boys' basketball team has taken the time to celebrate the play and the victory. But now, they're locked in on making even more memories this season.

"They were the heroes of the school for a while," Allen said. "We got some emotions out, and then we turned to this weekend."

The Golden Eagles take on George Washington at Greenfield-Central High School on Saturday, March 9th at 4:00 p.m.
