INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin is going to miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season with a shoulder injury.
According to a Pacers press release, Mathurin was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right shoulder on Saturday. The Pacers indicated that the injury will require surgery to repair.
Mahturin will undergo a procedure performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles next week, per a release.
According to a report from Newsweek, ElAttrache has performed surgeries for numerous high-profile athletes like New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Major League Baseball pitcher Zack Greinke and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall-of-Famer Kobe Bryant.
The Pacers have indicated that Mathurin is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Mathurin has averaged 14.5 points, four rebounds and two assists per game this season. The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder has played 59 games for Indiana this season.
