INDIANAPOLIS – With rain continuing in central Indiana Thursday, IndyCar canceled the second day of Indianapolis 500 testing.
The NTT IndyCar Series said 34 drivers turned 1,327 laps during Wednesday’s session, which featured adjusted start times to account for rain and wrapped up early due to the weather.
The session was for the Rookie Orientation Program and veteran refresher laps. Thursday's testing had been scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. before the cancellation.
With Thursday’s practice session called off, teams will next return to IMS on May 10 for practice and qualifying ahead of the Sonsio Grand Prix. The May 11 race will be run on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's road course.
Practice for the 108th Running of the 500 is set for May 14. The race is scheduled for Sunday, May 26.
