INDIANAPOLIS — Indy Fuel emcee Scott Alan has died.

Fuel owner Jim Hallett announced that Alan had died via an open letter to fans on Tuesday. In his letter, Hallett wrote that Alan was killed in "an auto accident."

"It is with a somber heart that I reach out to you today to share the tragic news of the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Scott Alan," Hallett wrote. "Scott's sudden departure due to an auto accident on Monday has left us all in a state of shock and sorrow. Scott has been a cornerstone of the Fuel family from the very beginning, his voice, and presence gracing us for all 10 seasons."

Hallett's letter stated that Alan was going to become the first employee hired by the Bloomington Bison — a startup ECHL team in Illinois that Hallett also owns.

In a video the Fuel posted on X on May 8, Alan talked about his desire to find an expanded role with the team. In the same video, Alan said Hallett had offered him a larger role with the Bison.

Alan indicated that he accepted Hallett's offer to work in Bloomington.

"Scott was so excited on becoming the first employee hired for the Bloomington Bison," Hallett wrote.

"His enthusiasm, exuberant personality, and unwavering support for our teams will be profoundly missed. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will undoubtedly continue to cheer us on from above."

Hallett's letter indicates that Alan was born in 1965. In addition to his duties with the Fuel, Alan also served as the public address announcer for the Indy Eleven.

The Fuel plan to share further information regarding a funeral or memorial service for Alan after his family finishes making arrangements.

"Scott Alan was more than just a colleague; he was a true friend to many of us, and his memory will forever resonate within our community," Hallett wrote. "Let us come together to honor and cherish the legacy he leaves behind."

Hallett's letter can be read in its entirety here.
