Roster set for US Olympic swimming team after swim trials in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS – The U.S. Olympic swimming team is set, with 48 athletes set to take part in the upcoming Paris Games.

The roster, pending final approval by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), took shape after the 2024 Olympic Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Records fell during the event, with swimmers setting new two new world records, three American records, two U.S. open records and three championship records. Fans also set new attendance marks during the event, which ran from June 15 through June 23.

Men’s head coach Anthony Nesty (University of Florida) and women’s head coach Todd DeSorbo (University of Virginia) will be joined by assistants Chris Plumb (Carmel Swim Club), Carol Capitani (University of Texas), David Durden (University of California - Berkeley), Braden Holloway (North Caroline State University), Chris Lindauer (University of Notre Dame) and Greg Meehan (Stanford University).

The Open Water head coach is Ron Aitken (Sandpipers of Nevada), joined by assistant coach Corey Chitwood (Indiana University). 

Athletes will open training camp on July 3 in North Carolina. Olympic pool competition takes place from July 27 through Aug. 4 at the Paris La Defense Arena, with open water events taking place Aug. 8 and Aug. 9 at the Pont Alexandre III.

Six swimmers from Indiana made the team: Drew Kibler, Aaron Shackell and Alex Shackell (all from Carmel); Lilly King (Evansville); Blake Pieroni (Chesterton); and Luke Whitlock (Noblesville).
