INDIANAPOLIS — The Pacers are continuing to load up on young talent this offseason, with the team's latest signing being likened on the internet to Steph Curry.
Per reports from ESPN's Jonathan Givony, former Nebraska guard Keisei Tominaga has agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with Indiana.
Tominaga may be familiar to Indiana hoops fans after he torched the Indiana Hoosiers last year while averaging 23.6 points over three games and eliminating IU from the Big Ten tournament.
The 6'2", 178-pound guard was lethal from beyond the 3-point line in his 3 years at Nebraska - shooting 37% from three and averaging 11.4 points per game. After averaging 15.1 points per game last season, the Moriyama, Japan native was named second-team All-Big Ten.
Dubbed the "Japanese Steph Curry" by Big Ten commentators and hoops enthusiasts on the internet, Tominaga became a fan-favorite player amongst the Cornhusker community in his three years at Nebraska.
Tominaga's contract does not guarantee a spot on the Pacers' official 15-man roster, but means he will likely play for Indiana's G-League affiliate - the Mad Ants - next season.
Per Reuters, an Exhibit 10 contract acts as a team tryout that includes a one-year, minimum-salary NBA contract and is available to NBA franchises with a G-League team. Teams then have until the regular season starts to opt into a two-way contract with the player.
The NBA states that an Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed deal that does not count against a team's salary cap unless the player makes the team's official roster. A player on an Exhibit 10 deal can earn a bonus of up to $77.5K if he’s waived and then spends at least 60 days with his team’s G League affiliate.
