BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana’s non-conference schedule includes eight home games and the school’s first-ever appearance in the Battle 4 Atlantis.
On Tuesday, Indiana men’s basketball revealed home non-conference opponents will include SIU-Edwardsville (Nov. 6), Eastern Illinois (Nov. 10), South Carolina (Nov. 16), Sam Houston State (Dec. 3), Miami (Ohio) (Dec. 6), UT-Chattanooga (Dec. 21) and Winthrop (Dec. 28).
The Hoosiers will host those games at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
From Nov. 27 through Nov. 29 (Thanksgiving week), the Cream and Crimson will take part in the Battle 4 Atlantis, an eight-team tournament played annually in the Bahamas. Those games will air on ESPN networks and will be played at the Imperial Arena, a “grand ballroom transformed into a truly unique basketball venue.”
The other programs taking part in the Battle 4 Atlantis are Arizona, Davidson, Gonzaga, Louisville, Oklahoma, Providence and West Virginia. This marks IU’s first appearance in the event, which will provide the Hoosiers with the chance to play against high-level non-conference competition.
"We will be tested by some veteran, well-coached ball clubs early in the season that will prepare us for a 20-game conference schedule. We are looking forward to playing in one of the best in-season tournaments in our game in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The matchups, no matter how they fall, will create a great test for our team," said head coach Mike Woodson in a news release.
IU learned its Big Ten opponents in May. The Hoosiers will make trips to Oregon and Washington and host games against UCLA and USC; all four teams are playing in the Big Ten for the first time this season after leaving the Pac-12.
The Hoosiers will have home-and-home series against Purdue, Ohio State and Penn State in Big Ten play. Their home conference opponents are Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Rutgers, UCLA and USC.
They'll hit the road for games against Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.
The Big Ten will announce tip times and broadcast information at a later date.
