INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts began paring their roster by making nine moves Sunday.

The most notable name: Ronnie Harrison, Jr. The veteran linebacker/safety had been in the safety mix this offseason, but was deemed expendable. Harrison had been working at both strong and free safety along with Julian Blackmon, Nick Cross, Rodney Thomas II and Trevor Denbow.

Harrison appeared in seven games with three starts last season, and finished with two interceptions. He returned one against Cincinnat for a touchdown.

The other moves: released wideouts Tyrie Cleveland and Greg Ward and defensive end Derek Rivers; and waived cornerback Clay Fields III, kicker Spencer Shrader, quarterback Kedon Slovis, wideout Derek Slywka and linebacker Mike Smith Jr.

Rosters must be cut to 53 by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
