Another nationally televised WNBA game, another ratings record.
ESPN said Sunday’s game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky drew 2.3 million viewers, making it the most-viewed WNBA game in 23 years across all networks.
The game featured the third battle between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. It saw the Sky, who trailed by 15 points at one point, rally in the fourth quarter to eke out a one-point win.
It was the third time the teams met during the season. The Fever had won the previous two; both games featured hard fouls involving Clark. They’ll play again on Aug. 30 in their final meeting of the regular season.
Their previous game, which aired on CBS the week before, drew 2.25 million viewers.
Through 12 telecasts, viewership for ESPN’s WNBA games is up 179% when compared to last season’s average. ESPN Networks have aired four of the top five WNBA games this year.
Clark’s WNBA debut last month against Connecticut drew 2.1 million viewers on ESPN. At the time, the ESPN said that game drew the highest ratings ever for a WNBA game aired on its networks.
The Fever-Sky games from June 16 and June 23 outdrew that contest, with Clark featured in all three of the league’s top-rated games this season.
